Caroline Hunt - BHSII
Caroline Hunt is an advanced dressage rider/trainer who has competed at all levels up to and including Inter I at Premier League. Qualified as a BHSII Instructor, Caroline trains riders from Pony Club grassroots level up to those working on Grand Prix movements. Caroline and her horse Freya won their elementary class at the British Dressage National Championships in 2022 and are currently working towards advanced medium.
Caroline's daughter Sophie Hunt competed from grassroots up to Premier League on her pony Bernwode Golden Delicious. In 2023 she competed internationally as a junior rider on Jane Rymell's horse, Riesenstern. Placed at each CDI, the highlight of the season, was 4th place in the FEI Junior Individual Test at Le Mans, France. Sophie has started a new exciting partnership with her mare Camilla and are hoping to be out competing soon.
Currently Caroline is training both dressage and event riders who want to progress through the levels and have had great success at National, Regional and Area Festival Level. Some of Caroline's riders included Owen Cooper and Katie Richards who as well as being successful advanced event riders, have won British Dressage National titles at medium and advanced medium level and have competed at small tour internationally and at Grand Prix. Caroline trained Amber Morris who won her class at the BYRDS Inter-Regional 2016 and was 3rd in B squad at BD Youth Inter-Regional 2018 and also qualified for the Pony Club Championships by winning her section at the areas at her first attempt at Pony Club competitions. Caroline also taught Tom Goode, who is now Emile Faurie's very successful Head Rider, from the age of 9 years old until he was approximately 21 years old.
Caroline and Julie Payne, an International Gold Medal winning Para Rider, work closely together with both based at Elsfield. They are all important eyes on the ground for each other. Julie competed Caroline's advanced dressage horse Little Lewis and Shannon Rule's Disco Diamond at International Grade IV Para Competitions in 2015/6 and competed her own Pandora at Grade 2 Para Competitions both nationally and internationally. Julie and her horse Leo (owned by Cornelia Cook) have recently competed at Addington International CPEDI and were placed 2nd and are aiming to compete overseas this year.
Little Lewis is a horse that Caroline bought as a yearling during her time training in Germany. She trained him from the beginning through to Inter I and he is now retired finishing his career as schoolmaster, enjoying teaching riders advanced movements, his speciality was tempi changes including one-times. Santa Rosalia is a mare by Sandro Hit who competed up to advanced medium level. Caroline rode her at the British Dressage Home International 2016 where they won the Novice Championship and they also train with International Dressage Rider Gareth Hughes. Currently Caroline rides Maverick Matt who is competing at advanced medium and working towards Prix St. George and her young mare Freya who will start her competition career this year.
Caroline is available for lessons at Elsfield on your own horse/pony for £50 (45 mins) She also teaches a limited number lessons at Clients own premises or at clinics. Coaching at competitions is also available. Please contact her on 07711888569 for further information.
